Meet Finn the Artist in Free Market
Finn the Artist paints in a studio in Free Market at 18th and Blake, a studio that feels more like kinship than commerce, a place where creativity circulates freely, and where every artist, no matter how small their start, gets to belong.
Finn’s studio is a conversation. The canvases hum with color — comic-book “Pow!”s, pop-art outlines, and layered paint that lies flat but strikes the eye like a pulse. Between the easels sit vintage wares, plants, and handmade leather goods, each object with its own story, each artist with a voice. At the center of it all is Finn, a former comic-book kid turned curator, who believes art should keep moving — from hand to hand, owner to owner — gathering new life along the way. “It’s about artists supporting artists,” he says, and the space he’s built inside Denver’s Free Market embodies that idea: part studio, part shop, part dream realized.
Finn has learned from his work that art isn’t finished when the paint dries — it’s finished when it tells him it is, and then he launches it on its journey, as gallerist Scott Young once did for him. That lesson carries through everything Finn does now. His studio is a revolving door of makers: painters, jewelers, leatherworkers, even musicians who set up pop-up markets and late-night jams. He keeps the shelves in constant motion, swapping in new pieces, new stories, new voices.
The LoDo District has enjoyed talking with Finn and learning about his process, and we hope you will too, at our Happy Hour on the 23rd.
