An Evening of Art, Landscape & Belonging at the Rally Hotel

Friday, Oct. 30 | 6:30 PM–8:30pm | 1600 20th Street | Free

Join artist and art historian Geovanni Barrios for an immersive evening of poetry, film, music, and collective artmaking at The Rally Hotel.

Drawing inspiration from the landscapes between Miami and Denver, Of Marsh and Mountain explores our relationship to nature, place, and the freedoms we associate with the outdoors. Barrios brings the Everglades’ expansive marshes and Colorado’s mountain landscape into conversation, inviting guests to consider the places that have shaped their own sense of belonging.

Throughout the evening, guests will be invited to create and contribute colorful paper forms inspired by landscapes meaningful to them. These individual pieces will become part of a collective collage, which Barrios will assemble into a new work of art following the event.

With poetry and music from special guests Emma Cuba and Awuor Onguru, the evening moves between performance, creative workshop and quiet reflection, offering a chance to experience art as something made together.

Of Marsh and Mountain is an evening about landscape, belonging, and the many ways we find a sense of freedom in the places we call our own.

Denver Union Station Welcomes Maria Empanada to Great Hall

Find Maria Empanada in Union Station and throughout Denver | 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Maria Empanada

Maria Empanada has opened a sixth location, this one inside the Great Hall of Denver Union Station. Founded by immigrant Lorena Cantarovici on $300 and a dream, Maria Empanada is a celebration of Argentine culture and culinary tradition. From humble beginnings making empanadas in her garage in 2011, Cantarovici has expanded to operate multiple Maria Empanada locations across metro Denver, each serving more than a dozen varieties of signature empanadas, sweets, coffee and more.

“When someone visits Denver, you want to take them somewhere that shows the city at its best. Denver Union Station is one of those places. It brings old and new Denver together, a living landmark filled with history, beauty and energy,” said Cantarovici. “When my dad came to visit from Argentina, I brought him here for coffee. My family is far away so that memory is precious to me. Now opening Maria Empanada here gives this place an even deeper meaning. It’s an honor to become part of a Denver landmark where people meet, explore and make memories.”
