Celebrate the return of ski season with “Women of Winter,” an all-women ski film premiere held at Basecamp Market Station featuring three ski films that spotlight the collective experience of women in the ski industry.
Nisei: A creative exploration of the biracial experience of skier, Sierra Schlag. While in Japan, she is seen as white and while in America, she is seen as Japanese and never accepted as her full self. Through the lens of skiing, Schlag finds herself on a journey to self-discovery within the two cultures she has ties to.
Kindred: Devin Logan and Caroline Claire, both from Long Island, are U.S. Olympic team members and skiing soulmates. Join them as they take the next bold step in their illustrious careers: Big lines, raw honesty, and camaraderie that stretches from the half pipe to the backcountry.
Consonance: Consonance means “harmony or agreement among components,” as well as “correspondence or recurrence of sounds.” A balance between fast and slow pacing, soft and powerful expression, Erin Spong’s “Consonance” dances the line between harmonized breath and movement.
Several Basecamp Market Station vendors will be promoting seasonal specials. For more information on Women of Winter at Basecamp Market Station, please visit www.firesideatfive.com/events/women-of-winter.
